Abstract:
Radiotherapy (RT) is largely used for head & neck malignancies as a
primary therapy or adjuvant to surgery, or in conjunction with
concurrent chemotherapy or as palliative treatment. Osteoradionecrosis
(ORN) is usually a late complication of radiation exposure, occurring
when irradiated bone becomes devitalized. Current prevalence rate is
approx.5% whereas the frequency approached 15% less than 20 years ago.
The purpose of this article is to report a case of osteoradionecrosis of
the jaw.
